FASHION PRIZE OF TOKYO 2022
Winner Interview

Sep,1 2021

高橋 悠介 / Yusuke Takahashi

Q. What motivated you to enter the FASHION PRIZE OF TOKYO?

The pandemic has raised many questions. “Are new things good?” I feel that this is the big question which COVID-19 has posed to the fashion industry. On the other hand, Paris, which has been continuously creating new things and styles, is also the place which has nourished me and allowed me to grow over the years. If the question mentioned earlier is the new wave, I feel the need to contemplate “where is fashion headed”, together with Paris. I wanted to ask myself what is the most important action for the cultural development in Paris, and that is why I decided to apply this prize.

Q. How did you feel when you won?

CFCL is a brand in its infancy, having launched less than a year ago. I am well aware that Paris is an extremely tough city, but this is an opportunity for the brand to grow globally, and I hope to work on my creation and further evolve the brand.

Q. Please tell us your activity goal (things you want to increase, aims) for the 2 seasons as the Prize winner.

I always believe that “continuity” is the most valuable act. I feel, the next two seasons will be important steps in the development and continuation of the brand. I will work towards communicating CFCL’s strong principles and aesthetic sense and continue to produce attractive products which markets demand for.

Q. Please tell us your fervor towards presenting a show at Paris next year.

It remains to be seen whether a show is the right format of presentation best befitting CFCL, but we hope that by moving our presentation to Paris, we will be able to present our brand and hold discussions with more people from around the world, which hopefully will bring about positive influences on future creations.
